Citizens Advice County Durham is a local charity—that’s why we need your support. Gifts left to charities in wills—usually known as legacies—don’t need to be large. Even a small percentage of your estate, left as a gift, can make a big difference. Money left to charities in wills is not normally subject to inheritance tax.
Our advice services are more in demand today than ever before, and as we move into the future that demand looks set to grow even further. Any gift, however small, will help to ensure that we are still here for your family and friends, and their children and grandchildren.
Every adult should have a will, regardless of their age, income or wealth—it’s the only way of ensuring your wishes are met after your death. If you don’t make a will, your loved ones could face significant administrative and legal complications at a very difficult time.
We recommend speaking to a local solicitor or will writer if you’re considering making or updating a will. By having your will professionally written, you ensure everything is covered. If you already have a will, it’s a simple process to change it to include a gift to your local Citizens Advice.
If you would like to leave a gift to us in your will, you will need to provide your solicitor with our name, registered address, and charity registration number so they can write the necessary clause, reflecting your wishes in your will.
Name: Citizens Advice County Durham
Charity registration number: 1151790

We will use your gift to support the overall running costs of our local advice service, or you may prefer to support a specific area of work with your gift e.g. improving our telephone advice service; supporting our training of volunteers; supporting our Research and Campaigns work; maintaining our buildings.
Whichever you choose, you can be assured that your gift will make a real difference to people’s lives and help us build healthier communities and a fairer society.
